Everton is reportedly planning to pursue Luton Town’s Elijah Adebayo in the January transfer window, with Crystal Palace also showing interest.
According to ReluctantNicko on Patreon, Everton is preparing for Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s potential departure and views Adebayo as a suitable replacement.
Adebayo, who joined Luton Town from Walsall in early 2021, has been impressive since his arrival.
He played a crucial role in Luton’s promotion to the Premier League and continued to perform well in the top flight, scoring 10 goals in 27 appearances last season despite the team’s relegation.
Everton manager Sean Dyche is said to have made Adebayo a priority target for the winter transfer window.
The club had considered making an offer for him last week, contingent on Calvert-Lewin’s departure, which didn’t materialize.
However, they’re expected to renew their interest in January.Luton Town is reportedly willing to sell Adebayo for a fee between £15 million and £20 million.
This aligns with Everton’s situation, as Calvert-Lewin’s contract expires in less than a year, and he hasn’t agreed to an extension yet.
Crystal Palace is also in the running for Adebayo’s signature.
They’re monitoring the situation closely, especially given the interest in their current striker, Jean-Philippe Mateta.
If Mateta leaves, Palace is likely to intensify their efforts to sign Adebayo.
The potential transfer of Adebayo is further complicated by Palace’s uncertain situation with Mateta.
While they’ve attempted to offer him a new contract, progress has been limited, suggesting he might be looking to move to a larger club.
