SELHURST PARK PLOT TO KEEP STAR STRIKER! Palace and Mateta in Crunch Talks Over Future” Will He Stay or Go? The Question on Everyone’s Lips”

Crystal Palace are hoping to open talks with striker Jean-Philippe Mateta about signing a new long-term contract. Mateta’s current deal at Selhurst Park has just two years remaining.

Mateta has been an important first-team player for Palace since joining in January 2022. Last season, he had a breakthrough year, contributing 21 goals and assists in 35 Premier League appearances, finishing as the club’s top scorer.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner is an admirer of Mateta and wants to keep the 27-year-old French striker at the club for as long as possible. Glasner’s arrival last season saw Mateta enjoy an impressive run of form, scoring 12 league goals in 13 appearances.

Mateta’s performances last season also earned him a spot in France’s squad for the Paris Olympics, where he had a terrific tournament, finishing as the third top scorer with five goals in six appearances.

Despite Mateta’s impressive form, he is yet to score this season as Palace remain winless in the Premier League. However, the club is still keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal, with Aston Villa having shown interest in the striker during the summer transfer window.
