LOPETEGUI’S SURPRISE U-TURN! West Ham Manager Gives SUPER STAR A Second Chance – But for How Long?”

According to Give Me Sport, Danny Ings is determined to secure his place in West Ham United’s first team for the 2024/25 season.

Despite the club’s willingness to sell him during the summer transfer window, Ings declined an offer to rejoin Southampton.

Now, manager Julen Lopetegui appears open to giving the English striker another chance.

Ings has struggled to make a significant impact since joining West Ham from Aston Villa in January 2023.

Once considered one of the Premier League’s top strikers during his time at Southampton, he has only managed four goals and two assists in over 50 appearances for the Hammers.

West Ham attempted to transfer Ings during the summer, with Southampton showing interest in re-signing him. However, the 32-year-old refused the move back to his former club.

Other Premier League teams have also been linked with Ings, but he remained with West Ham after the transfer window closed.

Ings now faces tough competition for playing time, as he’s third in line for the striker position behind new signing Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund and Michail Antonio.

Despite this, Ings, who earns £125,000 per week, is ready to compete for his place in the team, at least for the first half of the 2024/25 season.

Lopetegui seems willing to give Ings another opportunity in the coming weeks.

However, with Ings entering the final year of his contract, the January transfer window may be West Ham’s last chance to sell him before he potentially leaves on a free transfer.
