AliousKeith Wyness, Everton’s former CEO, has shared his thoughts on the club’s future under potential new owner Dan Friedkin. Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness expressed his belief that Friedkin will likely retain both manager Sean Dyche and director of football Kevin Thelwell until the season’s end, despite recent speculation about Dyche’s position due to Everton’s poor start to the Premier League campaign.
Wyness, who led Everton from 2004 to 2009 and now consults for top-tier clubs, acknowledged Friedkin’s willingness to make tough decisions, referencing the appointment of Daniele De Rossi at Roma. However, he emphasized that maintaining stability could be crucial for Everton’s Premier League survival.
The ex-CEO praised Dyche’s performance over the past couple of seasons, noting that he has exceeded expectations given the limited resources available. Wyness also highlighted the impact of injuries on the team’s current form.
While recognizing Friedkin’s ambition, Wyness suggested that the new ownership would benefit from taking time to understand Everton’s culture before making significant changes. He expects Dyche and Thelwell to continue in their roles for now, with their long-term futures to be determined after this season concludes.
