OH NO! Tottenham to Face first disadvantage of Roberto De Zerbi appointment with BIZZARE recent team News that signals end of Player who has played 844 minutes for SPURS this Season Amid Uncertain Tottenham future

The Italian defender has been consistently linked with a move away from North London in recent months, with his recurring availability issues and inconsistent performances raising concerns.

Those doubts are only expected to intensify following Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival, as questions remain over whether he can adapt to the manager’s tactical demands.

In the coming weeks, much of the squad is likely to come under close scrutiny as another rebuild gets underway in N17.

Based on what De Zerbi typically demands from his left-backs, Destiny Udogie already appears to be edging towards a Tottenham exit, having fallen short in several key areas.

During his time at Brighton, De Zerbi relied on Pervis Estupiñán, offering a clear benchmark for what he expects from his full-backs. His system requires wide defenders to maintain high positions, provide width, and play a significant role in attacking phases.

This season, despite playing around 400 minutes fewer than Pervis Estupiñán did in 2023/24, Destiny Udogie has managed just 0.07 expected assists per 90 minutes, while the Ecuadorian more than doubles that figure with 0.17.

Now at AC Milan, Estupiñán also attempted over twice as many crosses per game and proved more effective when carrying the ball forward, boasting a 50% dribble success rate compared to Udogie’s 31.3%.

In fact, Udogie does not lead in any key metric, a reality that is only likely to intensify speculation about his future.

As for Tottenham’s left-back options, Djed Spence also appears ill-suited to Roberto De Zerbi’s system, potentially leaving Souza as an alternative.

However, the Brazilian remains relatively inexperienced in English football.

All things considered, left-back is shaping up to be a major concern for De Zerbi, and it’s an area Spurs are almost certain to address in the summer.

Whether they will be recruiting as a Championship or Premier League side, though, remains uncertain with just seven matches left to play this season.
