He was also earning the confidence of then-manager Ange Postecoglou before his progress was suddenly halted by a concerning health issue.
Moore was sidelined from early November until mid-January due to a virus, though full details were kept private given his young age.
At the time, Postecoglou sought to reassure the public, stressing that the situation was not serious while insisting the player’s privacy be respected.
“Look, I try to be as open as possible, but we’re talking about a 17-year-old,” he explained.
“I don’t like going into specifics about his condition. It’s nothing serious, but he’s still very young.
“We’ll take things slowly, and there’s been too much speculation around it. It’s not a long-term issue. He’s just a young player who needs time.
“He’s an important part of this club, and we’ll make sure he’s protected while we monitor his recovery.”
Moore speaks on health scare
Now fully recovered, Moore has gone on to impress during his time at Rangers. The 18-year-old has enjoyed a standout campaign, registering six goals and two assists in 27 league appearances.
He has also created seven big chances and averages 1.2 key passes per 90 minutes, with his performances prompting fans to urge the club to make his move permanent.
Looking back on the difficult period, Moore has now revealed what really happened.
“I was playing well and had just started settling into the first team before the Galatasaray game,” he said (via Football.London).
“I trained two days before and was in line to start or at least feature. That evening, I went for a driving lesson and suddenly felt pain in my chest.
“The doctor told me to put football aside for the time being. Tests showed I had myocarditis, a virus that affected my heart and caused the pain.
“I was fortunate it was detected early, because things could have been much worse.”
Despite his progress elsewhere, Tottenham are not considering a permanent departure for Moore this summer.
New manager Roberto De Zerbi is expected to assess the young talent during pre-season before making a decision on his long-term future.
