Troy Parrott pushed for a move away from Tottenham in 2024 after finding his path to regular first-team football blocked. At the time, he was seen as a promising talent—particularly by those who followed the academy closely—but still too raw to make a consistent impact at senior level.
Since then, however, he has developed into one of Europe’s more productive number nines, emerging as a reliable source of goals. His movement has become sharper, and he now looks far more composed in front of goal.
Could Solanke make way?
For Parrott to return as a first-choice option, someone like Dominic Solanke may have to step aside. The striker has struggled to fully settle in north London since his move, failing to replicate the form he showed at AFC Bournemouth. Over two seasons, he has managed 22 goals—respectable, but not quite the level Spurs need from a leading forward (h/t Football Insider).
While those numbers aren’t disastrous, they fall short of what’s required for a team in desperate need of consistency in front of goal.
With Tottenham now facing the real threat of relegation from the Premier League heading into the final stretch of the season, reports suggest the club could be open to offers in the region of £50 million for Solanke.
If Parrott does return, it would likely be as a starter rather than a long-term project—potentially leaving Solanke’s role uncertain.
