Journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed on X that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement in principle to sign Marcos Senesi, with the defender already approving the move.

Previous reports indicated that Senesi was in talks not only with Spurs but also with clubs like Liverpool FC. However, it now appears the North London side have made the most significant progress in securing the deal.

Plettenberg stated that the 28-year-old centre-back has committed to joining Tottenham on a free transfer this summer, provided the club remains in the Premier League. As things stand, the agreement is not yet signed, leaving the final decision in Spurs’ hands.

If Tottenham avoid relegation and complete the signing, it would represent excellent business. Senesi has been one of the standout performers for AFC Bournemouth, attracting interest from several top sides.

Liverpool could still re-enter the race if Spurs fail to stay up, potentially strengthening their defensive depth alongside Virgil van Dijk.

After a difficult campaign, Tottenham are expected to undergo a significant rebuild, and securing a player of Senesi’s quality on a free transfer would be a major step toward restoring competitiveness.
