Tottenham Hotspur will treat their upcoming clash with Aston Villa as a must-win, with the side still sitting two points below the safety line and just four matches remaining, despite last week’s victory over Wolves.

There are, however, some reasons for optimism heading into the encounter. Unai Emery’s men have struggled for consistency in recent weeks and are also juggling Europa League semi-final commitments on Thursday.

Adding to the positive outlook, Spurs could be handed one or two significant injury boosts ahead of their trip to the Midlands.

Tottenham Hotspur could be handed a timely boost ahead of their clash with Aston Villa, with both Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie edging closer to a return.

Roberto De Zerbi had previously indicated that Vicario was expected to resume training this week, although the club has yet to officially confirm the update. According to The Standard, however, the Spurs goalkeeper could be in contention to feature against Villa after missing the last three league outings.

Udogie, who sat out the win over Wolves with a muscle problem, is also reportedly pushing to be available for Sunday’s encounter.

Despite the encouraging news, there are still concerns over several other injured players. Dominic Solanke, who was forced off during the victory over Wolves, is not believed to have suffered a serious issue, but his return date remains uncertain. The same applies to Pape Matar Sarr, who is still sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Meanwhile, James Maddison is not expected back anytime soon, and Tottenham will also continue to be without Mohammed Kudus, Xavi Simons, Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski, Ben Davies, and Wilson Odobert.
